Learn to see the colours of the Australian landscape through an introduction to watercolour painting delivered by artist, teacher and mentor Susan Porteous.

In this workshop, Susan will provide you with step by step demonstrations and practical guidance to enable you to discover the fascinating versatility of watercolour techniques and processes.

This workshop will teach you to mix basic colours to create a painting. You'll learn to mix colours to make the cool blues and the warm earthy colours of the Australian landscape. You will learn basic watercolour painting techniques: wet washes onto dry paper, wet into wet washes and brush techniques to create your own unique landscape painting.

In this beginner watercolour workshop you'll gain knowledge and techniques to enjoy your creative process and develop your skills to successfully create your own individual artwork.

Susan Porteous is a visual artist based in Newcastle with a particular passion for watercolour painting. She has a postgraduate Fine Arts degree from the Slade School in London, a Diploma in Community Services gained at TAFE NSW and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment . Susan has extensive experience running arts programmes in Newcastle. Susan is a passionate advocate for people following their goals and dreams.
