Contemporary approaches to portraiture
In this workshop Peter Lankas will demystify and simplify the complexities of portraiture through experimenting with both drawing and mixed-media techniques to create a contemporary portrait. The focus will be on understanding and utilising traditional approaches to create a contemporary work of a personal nature, mark making and capturing a likeness using the expression of colour. Basic drawing tools and technical approaches will also be explored.

The workshop will utilise self-portrait techniques as well as pictorial references and is suitable for beginner to advanced levels.
About Peter Lankas
Peter is an award-winning artist with over 30 years experience in both teaching and working as a practitioner in the process of drawing and painting. He has a Masters degree in Fine Art from the University of Newcastle. He currently teaches painting and drawing at the Newcastle Art School (TAFE) and regularly conducts workshops throughout the Hunter region and the Central coast.
Workshop Schedule
This 3 hour workshop from 10am to 1pm.
