Join artist and experienced educator, Jane Lander, gaining new skills in Still Life Painting.
The genre of Still Life is about telling stories, small stories about peoples lives and their possessions/everyday objects. It's an arrangement of shapes/forms in a space, usually on a flat surface ie a table top. It can be highly decorated and adorned with personal objects or an assortment of disconnected shapes that are of no consequence to you, completely divorced from any feelings of belonging. A Still Life endeavours to capture a moment in time. A moment to be shared. Unlike portraiture there is a level of scrutiny one can feel comfortable with.
Over 4 weeks, using direct observation, you'll focus on visually describing those shapes/forms in space manipulating the subject matter with acrylic painting. You'll investigate basic formal composition, developing spacial relationships between objects creating the illusion of 3 dimensional space.
In these guided classes, you'll learn to take small risks often to increase your confidence, develop your skill and find reward in your creative development.
