Capture the essence of summer with this unique pastel seascapes workshop. Learn how to use this beautiful and versatile medium which has been described as like 'painting and drawing at the same time'. Experienced local artist and teacher Gwendolin Lewis will demonstrate how to paint a seascape in a few easy steps. You will learn how to create the effects of deep water, water washing on the sand and crashing waves. There will be one-on-one tutoring and you will go home with a finished artwork.

Gwendolin Lewis is an award-winning pastel artist with over 10 years teaching experience. Her beautiful, evocative landscapes capture the emotional essence of a subject, the atmospheric effect of weather or simply the time of day. Living near Newcastle has inspired her to paint the coal ships and the ever changing scenes around Newcastle’s working harbour and windswept beaches.
She is a graduate of Swinburne College of Graphic Art and Design (Melbourne) and has a degree in Fine Art majoring in painting at Newcastle University. Gwendolin teaches workshops in and around Newcastle, Maitland and Sydney.

Workshop Schedule
What you get:
This is a 5 hour workshop plus a 30min lunch break.
As well as expert tuition, we supply seascape photographs, supplementary pastels and a tasty morning tea.
What to bring: Your own pastel set (min. needed 2 greens eg. pthalo green and dark olive, 2 blues eg. pthalo blue and ultramarine dark, 1 white, 1 sand colour and 1 turqoise blue) and pastel paper Mi Tientes TEX. Gwendolin highly recommends purchasing pastels and paper at Adamstown News in Brunker Road.
Also please bring your lunch and extra cash if you wish to purchase additional paper ($2.50 per sheet). Your lovely creative self!
