Join us for the launch of Damien Linnane's debut novel Scarred alongside an exhibition of his artwork. Scarred is a psychological thriller set in the heart of Sydney focusing on two independently operating serial killers and the homicide detective hunting them both. Scarred was written over a period of five months, by hand, while Damien was in prison serving a 10 month sentence. Damien also taught himself to do realistic portraits while incarcerated.

Scarred is published by Tenth Street Press and is due for release in both paperback and Kindle format on November 28, 2019. Scarred is distributed by Ingram and will be available for order in most bookstores.

What the critics say:

“Damien Linnane’s Scarred is a poignant thriller that speaks to the addictiveness of vengeance. Jason Ennis emerges from an abominable childhood into an adulthood that is light on human connection. In striving for justice, he becomes a monster. It’s a powerful debut, both page-turner and tragic exploration of the mistakes the well-meaning make when they don’t know how to feel.” – Edward Wright from The Creative Wordshop

About Damien Linnane
About Damien Linnane
Damien Linnane is a former Australian soldier and also a former prisoner. In November 2015 he was sentenced to 10 months in prison for a series of crimes that the sentencing magistrate described as “vigilante action" after someone in his immediate family was sexually assaulted. While incarcerated Damien wrote the first draft of his debut novel and taught himself to draw.

Damien now runs a business, Vigilante Studios, doing photo-realistic portraits by commission. He recently completed a master’s degree in Information Studies, is working on his autobiography and lobbying for better educational programs and mental health support for prisoners and involuntary mental health patients.

Workshop Schedule

This is a free event on Friday 15 November between 6pm-8pm. All welcome.

Signed paperback copies of the novel will be available for purchase, alongside Damien's portrait artworks. Wine and cheese will be provided.

This is a public event so feel free to spread the word!
