Join award-winning artist, Jane Lander, in a comprehensive series, Portrait Painting and Drawing. In this course you will enjoy hands-on exploration of the techniques, principles, and artistic concepts involved in creating captivating and lifelike portraits. Whether you are a beginner seeking to master the fundamental skills or an intermediate artist aiming to refine your abilities, this course will provide you with a solid foundation and advanced techniques to create your own portrait artworks.

Each week you will explore different elements of portraiture including capturing likeness, mastering pencil and charcoal techniques and painting a portrait in acrylics developing your own style.

In this series we will have 1 session with a professional clothed model. Using a life model for portraiture offers the advantage of allowing you to capture intricate details, subtleties of expression, and nuanced lighting that photographs often miss.

By the end of the course, you will have developed a strong proficiency in portrait painting and drawing, along with the ability to convey emotions and capture the essence of your subject in your artwork.
