Geometry and nature have been used in combination to inspire art and design over the past centuries and across different cultures. The practice of geometry is also a tool for contemplation and meditation, with its inherent symbolism and rhythmic practice. It increases one's awareness of the archetypal shapes and rhythms found all around us, bringing a wonderful feeling of presence and deeper respect for nature with its immensity of patterns, symmetry, and beauty.

This online taster class will focus on construction of basic geometric shapes and patterns underlying nature. You will be guided through the step-by-step construction of essential patterns using a compass and straight edge. Using the lines, shapes, and points of reference within each pattern, you will explore mark-making to freely create designs or compositions, learning essential elements of design along the way to expand and refine your work.

Join this workshop where we will work to a relaxed and meditative rhythm, finding freedom in flow, and flow in structure. This workshop is suitable for beginners aged 15+ and for those wishing to explore geometry as a design and mindfulness tool.

This workshop will be run online via Zoom.
