This is a 4 week course on techniques for painting from life. Areas to be explored include structure, tone, colour and composition. The course will include structural and tonal drawing and limited pallet to full colour oil painting. Rachel will work with you on still life, portraiture/figure painting and plein air (weather permitting!). By the end of the course the aim is for each student to have produced a body of work and to have a good grasp of the fundamental principles of figurative painting to inform and push their artistic practice forward into the future! *This course is suited to people who have some prior art making experience.*

Rachel Milne is a figurative oil painter based in Newcastle who paints from life. She has been a finalist in several high profile competitions including the Archibald Salon des Refuse and the Wynne Prize in 2017 and 2018. Rachel won the Singleton Prize for Portraiture in 2013. Rachel is represented by the King Street Gallery on William in Sydney.

What you get: You'll receive expert guidance and tuition from a nationally recognised, award-winning artist. You'll take home a series of work which will inform and help develop your own practice.
