By popular demand we are very happy to announce a New Year Gold Leaf workshop with Vanessa Lewis, also known as the Apothecary Artist.
Vanessa will share her love and passion for the beautiful art of gold leaf. A time honoured tradition of applying fine layers of metal to paper, the gold brilliantly captures light and represents a joyful spirit found in the natural world. For beginners and advanced craftsperson’s alike, this workshop will introduce you to the technique and is guaranteed to inspire a whole new confidence and expression to your creativity. In this workshop Vanessa will supply you with 2 original artworks, and you'll learn to apply gold to these works. However, if you'd like to create your own artwork for gilding, Vanessa will cater for this too.
Vanessa will also create your very own unique gilded letter in advance for you to take home on the day.
The registration price also includes a bonus gold-leaf take home kit valued at $25.

Vanessa is an emerging artist working in gold leaf while completing a PhD in historical materials and art techniques. Now local to Newcastle, Vanessa lived in Europe as a child where her love of art and the natural world became a vocational passion. Her art-practice is predominantly works on paper with a strong exhibition history and her works are held in private and public collections in Australia and Internationally.
