Geometry in Nature and Design - 4 Week Course

Geometry has been used for centuries as a practical and contemplative tool in art and craft and design. Geometric drawing and analysis of patterns is a way to increase your awareness of the archetypal shapes and rhythms found all around us in nature and the cosmos. You will constantly be in awe of the wonderful patterns, symmetry and number in nature that repeatedly occur.

This is a four week series of workshops, with each week’s pattern inspired by the seasons; autumn, winter, summer and spring. If the 4-week course is not fully booked, spots in the individual workshops will be made available closer to the time.

Each workshop will consist of:
-An introduction to either a four fold, six, or five fold pattern, including construction basics, and number symbology and philosophy underlying the pattern
- Guided step-by-step drawing of a main pattern
- Time permitting, an opportunity to release some inner creativity and make a design using the pattern as an underlying grid, or painting your pattern using a colour palette that accords to the season (with an introduction to a colour harmony and painting technique)

Come join this workshop where we will aim to work to a relaxed and meditative rhythm, attuned to the simple pleasures of beauty in nature. All workshops are suitable for beginners and for those wishing to explore sacred geometry as a design tool.
