Join artist and educator Jane Lander in this unique series painting and drawing the figure. This series will centre on the experience of painting or drawing from a live model with long, sustained poses each session.

This series is ideal for those who have some experience with Painting and Drawing, Life Drawing classes or Portraiture and are looking to extend their skills.

In this series you will be encouraged to work in the medium of your choice. This may include drawing materials, pastels, gouache, watercolour, acrylic paints, or oil paints. Students are required to bring their own choice of materials.

This series will develop your fundamental skills. With guidance from Jane, you will extend your understanding of composition, proportion, gesture, colour, light and shade, brush and palette knife techniques to achieve your own personal style and vision.

Jane has an established practice with over 30 years experience. Her work is held in many collections including the Newcastle Art Gallery, Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, Maitland Art Gallery, Muswellbrook Art Gallery and Broken Hill Art Gallery. Lander is the 2022 winner of the Newcastle Club Foundation Art Prize and has been a finalist in many national prizes including The Dobell Drawing Prize, The Blake Travelling Art Prize, The NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting prize and The Kilgour Art Prize, now held annually at Newcastle Art Gallery. Jane holds a Bachelor of Teaching (secondary, visual arts).
