Join Jane Lander in her Summer Coastal Project! Experience the joys of working en plein air inspired by one of Newcastle's most iconic coastal locations, Bar Beach. Learn how to capture the essence of the landscape in all its moods and everchanging light. Whether it’s soaking up the atmosphere of families and friends enjoying themselves or the natural elements of this iconic location. These classes will take place on site at Bar Beach covered picnic tables and in the studio at Hudson Street Hum. Please note: weather permitting there will be 2 en plein air sessions.

Each week Jane will provide guidance on the essential techniques, approaches and considerations needed for en plein air drawing and painting. You will develop strategies to help build your skill while creating artworks from direct experience.

The course will cover;
~ Developing your observation skills
~ Composition and design
~ How to select your subjects
~ The essential thumbnail drawings and how to use them to develop preliminary sketches
~ Developing your own distinctive style
~ Keeping it real, learning how 'less is more'
~ Responding to light and atmosphere in nature

Beginners and seasoned artists alike are welcome!
