We respond to the world around us through colour. Every day we make choices about colour and how others perceive our world based on those choices of colour. Colour is personal and that response to colour is individual. Over 4 weeks, join artist and educator, Jane Lander, exploring the world of colour with a practical approach to the fundamentals of colour theory in painting and how you can apply this to your own practice.

In this series you will build your own colour palette that reflects you and your response to stimuli. You will learn to organise your palette and explore cool and warm palettes. You'll learn when and where to use transparent and opaque colours and the role they play in building drama in your painting. We will discuss the external and internal forces that colour has in determining the mood, atmosphere, and narrative of a work. We'll complete practical exercises on how to use colour harmony and colour complementary to develop your work.

Throughout the course, you'll engage in hands-on painting sessions with all materials supplied. The goal of the course is to provide a solid understanding of colour theory and the ability to apply these principles to your own paintings.
