Join us for this cross-disciplinary workshop combining clay making and creative writing. Your young creative will start off the workshop getting messy with their hands. We'll be creating clay monsters using basic hand-building techniques pinching, pressing and moulding shapes. While we are busy creating our monsters we'll also be thinking about our emerging character. We find making and drawing things is a great way to begin the planning process when writing stories!
After we've created our monsters we'll have a quick snack break and once refuelled we begin our story writing. We'll take the kids on a little creative journey with prompts, scaffolding and stories to help them create their own stories about their clay monsters.

Aleeta and Suzie have 20+ years experience in publishing, writing and communications. 6 years ago they set up Unload - a primary school based creative writing programme in the Newcastle region. Their fun and engaging activities have run successfully in many local schools and now they are excited to be offering the programme in unique and playful surrounds at Hudson Street Hum.
