Join botanical artist Lauren May SK for a fun and inspiring summer watercolour workshop focused on painting the iconic Australian gum leaf.

Lauren will guide you through techniques such as wet-in-wet, 'dropping in' and wet on dry painting to build up a realistic style of artwork.

This class is suitable for beginners but anyone more familiar with watercolours will be sure to learn more to hone their craft.

All materials will be provided and you will leave with a completed piece and new skills to continue exploring botanical illustration.

Lauren is a natural history artist specialising in botanical illustration based in the Lake Macquarie region. She seeks inspiration from the natural world and recreates that beauty using pencils, paper and watercolours.

Lauren has a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Grade I Honours) from the University of Newcastle. Her botanical art pieces are held in collections of the Sydney Florilegium Botanical Art Society as well as the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh, US. Lauren is a member of the prestigious Sydney Florilegium and the Botanical Art Society of Australia.

Workshop Schedule

This is a 3hr hour workshop to be held on Friday, 10 January.
