This art therapy class is convened by the Newcastle Parkinson’s Support Group and is designed for people living with Parkinson’s Disease. The class presents an opportunity to explore the creative process via drawing, which in turn strengthens and sharpens hand eye coordination and mental processes. Through strengthening of the sense base of sight and touch the participants benefit from learning to be in the moment.

The participants of this class have been delighted with this chance to experience drawing first hand with an artist. They have focused on gaining new skills and this has brought joy and new connections into their lives; promoting self esteem and fulfilment. This class is designed for people of all levels so you don't need experience! It costs $10 per session.

For information about the group and membership enquiries please contact Sandra Elms on 0405 441 150.

About the Newcastle Parkinson’s Support Group

The Newcastle Parkinson's Support Group is a non profit organisation which has been providing support and information for members for more than 30 years. The group aims to facilitate activities which improve quality of life and provide opportunities for members to socialise, have fun and slow the progression of the disease. Evidence from all over the world has shown that exercise of the mind and body is important for people with Parkinson’s Disease.

In addition to Art classes, the Group also runs the Shake Rattle & Roll choir for people with PD and their carers, Dance for PD classes and a specialised Pilates class designed for people with PD.

For further information about any of the groups please contact Sandra Elms 0405 441 150.
